Semester 1 Portfolio Work

My work for this Semester

BREADTHS

CONCENTRATIONS

Updated Assignments

So I made a few changes and updates to some of my past assignments

Sunflower - I placed the quote on the bottom of the poster instead of across so it won't interrupt the flow

Tolerance Piece - I added more words so it would create and overwhelming feeling and moved the face and gradient so it follows the rules of thirds.

Conservation Poster - I aligned the bottom text and made the overall text smaller

Concentration 5

And my last concentration for this semester is a social media promotion

Concentration 4

This promotional material would be a one-sided handout in the form of a postcard

Concentration 3

The next product in my ad campaign for GYC is a sticker

YAY!

So after submitting some pieces to the Scholastic Art Awards I am so honored to have won a Gold Key for this piece!

This piece means a lot to me and I still get hesitant feelings looking at it and posting it haha. But when I was brainstorming what I wanted my self-portrait to consist of, I knew I wanted it to showcase almost everything about me, the good and the bad. So, after looking on Pinterest and planning different ways to make my ideas look the best; I decided to use my happy-self-face, which was created from a collage of all the happy moments from my life and things that I like. (And I did use a program on the web to create the collage.) Then, my favorite part was creating the silhouette of my side face on my face. (And I had my friend, J$, help me with it.) Last of all, the part that took the longest was writing all of the problems and true feelings in my life which makes up the silhouette face. Overall, I wanted the self-portrait to convey that, just because somebody is put together on the outside does not mean that everything in his or her life is together. So the half face symbolizes what people may see on the front, but the silhouette shows another point of view that people may not realize.

It's awesome to know that hard work actually does pay off! (As cheesy at that sounds, it's true lol.)
And I hope you might have learned just a little of what I got out of this project :)

Anti-Bullying Typography

I really like the expression, "build up, not down" so I wanted to incorporate that into an Anti-Bullying awareness image. I had a though time deciding what the image should be but my AP Art teacher, Mrs. Ottum, suggested an arrow and I went with it. I loved the idea of having "up" be the main part of the arrow and cut out. Then I made the outline of the arrow from the rest of the words. I chose yellow and orange for the colors because they are happy colors and orange is usually known for anti-bullying awareness. Last of all, my teacher also came up with the idea of adding the dots and so that helped to add some more interest. Spread kindness :)

Birthday Cards

I had a lot of fun making these Birthday cards, especially coming up with the quotes, which are the fronts. The back is the "Happy Birthday" with a line. I really liked the idea of a dry humor card; and to go with the theme, a very simple design and font suits dry humor the best. And, the color can make or break the card so I chose 3 vibrant but not too vibrant colors. These will probably be my next birthday cards for my friends :)
