This piece of art is for the Scholastic Gedenk Award Competition. The goal is to raise awareness of the importance of increasing tolerance for a peaceful society. I decided to focus on the theme of hate. With this piece I wanted to portray the horrible state individuals feel when they are insulted. The red words of course symbolizes hate. The black represents the depressed and negative feelings while adding white to his face so viewers will focus on his sad face the most. All the insults are going into his head as he is disappearing from the page as if they are overtaking him.
With this piece, I learned how to used the Mesh tool. And now it is probably my favorite tool in Adobe Illustrator! I found this cool website where I learned about the Mesh tool:
